Tom Hardy will produce and star in the Bosnian War movie “My War Gone By, I Miss It So,” Variety has learned exclusively.
The film is based on the 1999 book of the same name by Anthony Loyd, an English journalist and war correspondent. Gavin O’Connor is attached to direct and produce, along with Scott LaStaiti, who launched Palantir Group as an entertainment fund last year.
Filming is underway on Chronicle and Fantastic Four filmmaker Josh Trank’s long-developing Al Capone movie Fonzo, and star Tom Hardy appears to be having a blast. We’re two years from the first announcements about “Cicero,” a gangster flick at Warner Bros. that would see Tom Hardy take on the role of Al Capone. Cool, right? There was early talk of the project expanding into a trilogy, but that has died down along with most news about the project. Last we heard, the movie was aiming to start shooting this year with David Yates directing. Clearly, that’s not gonna happen, but the endeavor is far from dead.
According to a report by Deadline, the film will focus on this period, as “dementia rots [Capone’s] mind and his past become present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life”.
8. War Party
According to the Hollywood Reporter, War Party will star Hardy, with Scott’s company, Scott Free Productions, handling production. Andrew Dominik, best known for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and Killing Them Softly, will co-write and direct. Plot details are under wraps but the film will be based on real-life events, with Hardy playing a decorated US Navy Seal.
9. Mad Max: The Wasteland
Given the massive and unexpected success of 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, the sequels seemed pretty much inevitable. After all, director George Miller has already revealed that he has two new scripts ready, and Tom Hardy is attached to return to the franchise.
